[imagetag] Nasa's Voyager spacecraft is reaching the outer limits of the solar system - an area known as the 'stagnation' zone

The probe is still detecting 'spikes' in the intensity of cosmic ray electrons - which lead scientists to think it's still within the 'heliosheath', the very outer edge of our solar system.



Ini menjadi pencapaian terbesar dalam sejarah manusia. Melalui satelit Voyager 1, manusia berhasil mencapai ujung dari luar angkasa. Penasaran?

Menggunakan satelit buatan NASA yang diluncurkan pada 1977 ini pencapaian ini pun terjadi. Pada 35 tahun setalah peluncuran, satelit ini berada 17,97 miliar kilometer dari Bumi dengan kecepatan rata-rata 10km per detik.

Selama pekan lalu, indikasi yang muncul menunjukkan Voyager 1 mulai meninggalkan Heliosfer yang merupakan jejak terakhir tata surya. Voyager masuk Heliosfer pada 2004.

"Ini pertama kalinya ada satelit memasuki daerah itu," kata ilmuwan Voyager Edward Stone, seperti dikutip DM.

Karena belum pernah ada yang ke sana, kami tak tahu seperti apa kondisi di sana, lanjutnya. "Hal tersebut menjadi hal yang menarik," tutupnya. [mor]
